About Us Folk
Life on the Ozark Plateau
Blessings every day…
We moved in to our log cabin on 25 acres of south-central Missouri back in January 2021. We have a number of irons in the proverbial fire as we see what we can manage on land that is mostly rocks and trees that have figured out how to grow roots around said rocks. We started with what we knew well: chickens. Hence the name Rock ‘n Feather Acres. We have since expanded to include pigs, sheep, ducks, geese, and quail. Other ventures include making Rooster Sauce from our jalapenos, and butter and cheese when our neighbors have too much milk!
So, we spend our days learning about how to best steward our land and the denizens of our land as best as we can… a lot of research, a lot of observation, and a lot of prayer. Sometimes there are challenges of raising animals that are low on the food chain. Along with that are challenges to raise animals that want to eat grass, and the best thing you can grow is rocks… lots and lost of rocks. I’m sure we will have an opportunity to discuss some of those things…

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. – Proverbs 14:23
